In 1910 he came to the Wheatland area with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brown. Russell and Katherine McLaren were married December 25, 1914. They lived on the farm one year, then due to illness, they moved to Wheatland. Russell worked for Caister Tree on the dray line until they moved to Enderlin, where he was a Fireman on the Soo Railroad. In 1920 they moved back to Wheatland where he had his own dray line and later expanded into the trucking business. They had six children, all attended Wheatland Schools. MADELINE, graduated from Jamestown College, became a Registered Record Librarian. She worked at the George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C. She married Keith Crock of Sunnyvale, California, where she now lives. GENEVIEVE graduated from Jamestown College. She taught high school English in North Dakota high schools. She married Don Justad of Plaza, North Dakota. They live in Fargo and have four children. MURL, enlisted in the Navy in August, 1941. Most of his service was in the Pacific area. After the war he married in California. Later moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where they now reside. They had one son. DUANE, enlisted in the Marines in February, 1941. He was in service in Iceland and in the Pacific area. He was wounded at Quadalcanal, then in 1943, was killed in action at the Battle of Tarawa. JUANITA , a telephone operator in Fargo, later married Wayne Engleking and has two children. She now resides in Wichita Falls, Texas, where she works as an operator on the Sheppard Air Base. VIVIAN, went to California and there married Gerald Watts. They now reside in St. Claire Shores, Michigan. They have nine children. The family moved to Fargo in 1941, where Russell did long distance hauling for the West Fargo Horse Market. Later he worked for W. W. Wallwork for a number of years. He retired in 1959 due to illness. He died in September 1971. Katherine was active in her church activities, especially the Women's Society. She now lives in her Fargo home. EDWARD BUTTKE-ANNA PRELWITZ My parents, Edward J. and Anna Marie Prelwitz were married and lived in the Willmar Minnesota vicinity. Father was born in Germany and came to the states at the age of 16. There were ten children: MINNIE (Mrs. W. L. Gaulke), Thompson, North Dakota, deceased; AMELIA (Mrs. Clifford Morris), Wheatland, North Dakota, deceased; EDWARD and BEN, Eugene, Oregon, both deceased; WILLIAM of Yakima, Washington, deceased; FRED, Dunseith, North Dakota; GEORGE, Campbell, California; ELLA (Mrs. Glenn Elwell) and NETTIE of Eugene, Oregon and DOROTHY (Mrs. Paul Cripe, Amenia, North Dakota. We came to Thompson, North Dakota in 1904. When I was 11 years old we moved to Hebron, North Dakota and lived there two years. Then moved to Wheatland and farmed on the Otto Thoemke and Boyd farms.
