| Summary: | Gladys and Harry were the parents of four sons: Charles, Casper, Wyoming; Harold Bruce, Mt. Clemens, Michigan; Robert, Buffalo; and James, Hurlburt Field, Florida. There are twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Gladys Snyder passed away in November of 1973. Harry is presently general manager of Inter-Community Telephone Company. He served at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Fort Monroe, Virginia, and in Saigon, Viet Nam. While on active duty he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and two campaign medals. He entered NDSU again in 1967, and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in psychology in 1971. After working as a social service aide at the Cass County Welfare Agency for a year, he entered the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary. He graduated in 1975 with a Master of Divinity degree and was ordained into the Gospel Ministry at the First Presbyterian Church of Buffalo on June 29- After serving as pastor in a six-church larger parish in Mineral Point, Wisconsin, he transferred to the Presbyterian Parish of Ladd and Arlington, Illinois. He was commissioned as a U.S. Air Force Chaplain in July of 1978, and entered active duty in February, 1979 at Hurlburt Field, Florida. His wife, Mary Anne, is a 1967 graduate of St. Mary's Central High School in Bismarck, North Dakota, and received her bachelor of science degree in Nursing from Mary College in Bismarck. She is a registered nurse, having worked in intensive care and public health nursing prior to their move to Florida. Their address is: 12 Birch Court, Hurlburt Field, Florida 32544. Jim and Mary Anne are the parents of a daughter, Jessica Anne, born January 15, 1980. ROBERT SNYDER and MARY LYNNE STRAIN Robert Dean Snyder is the son of Harry and Gladys Snyder, born October 14, 1942, at Fargo, North Dakota. In 1943 they moved from Fargo to Buffalo, North Dakota. He attended all twelve years of school at Buffalo, graduating in 1961. In January 1962 he joined the U.S. Army and took his basic training at Fort Carson, Colorado. On March 24. 1962, Robert married Mary Lynne Strain, daughter of Glenn and Evelyn Strain of Buffalo. Mary Lynne graduated from Buffalo High School in 1961 and attended Interstate Business College, Fargo. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Fargo three months prior to her marriage. Robert's three year tour of duty took them to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Fort Bliss, Texas, and Sandia Base, New Mexico. After his discharge Robert worked for a time with Dimco Manufacturing and for Communication Consultants in Fargo. In November 1969 he started working for Inter- Community Telephone Company, Buffalo. At the present time he is in charge of the Buffalo-Wheatland and Alice exchanges. The Snyders have three daughters: Marsha, seventeen; Sheila, sixteen; and Sara, seven. They attend Maple Valley Schools. Robert, Mary Lynne and girls live in Buffalo. SOREN M. SORENSEN and LOUISA CHRISTIANSON Mr. and Mrs. Soren Sorensen Soren M. Sorensen was born at Thisted, Denmark, September 10, 1873, and spent his boyhood there. At age sixteen he came to America and lived with his aunt, Mrs. Chris Larsen. In 1900 he went to Alaska with a number of Buffalo friends who participated in the Nome gold rush. In 1904 he married Louisa Christianson, a native of Grand Island, Nebraska. She had come at an early age to North Dakota and made her home with relatives until her marriage. For thirty years Soren and Louisa farmed the old Patch farm in Hill Township. Soren died November 22, 1939 and Louisa November 23, 1942. Soren and Louisa had three children: Edna, Harold and Alvin. Edna married Stephen Young and they had one son, Freeman.
