Gulbrandson (On south side of Red Willow Lake, the only house marked in the township). GRIGGS Griggs County was named for Capt. Alexander Griggs, who came to North Dakota in 1870, and was engaged in flat- boating on the Red River in connection with the Hudson Bay trade. Previous to his coming to North Dakota, he was engaged in steamboating on the Minnesota river between St. Paul and St. Peter. Returning to St. Paul in 1871 he was -10- Scanned with a Zeutschel Zeta book scanner at 300 dpi. Edited with Multi-Page TIFF Editor.
