Summary: | This present work is about the construction of geography as a "modern science". Our research focuses more particularly on the place of the imagination in the production of geographical science. Does modernity mean lack of imagination ? To answer this question, we studied the treatment given to a geographical myth: the Southern Continent. Through its history and its representations, we wanted to demonstrate the role of the imagination as an agent in the construction of modern geography. |
