| Summary: | Forkortet: While a high-arctic climate vet was prevailing, a submergence seems to have taken place in the north of Norway, corresponding to the late glacial sub- mergence at the Oslofjord, according to Brøgger's investigations. At Bodø and Tromsø, near the present level of the sea, yoldia-clay has been found with a fauna of exclusively arctic species; several of these show individuals of such dimensions, as in actual times are not found outside the high-arctic seas. The fauna greatly resembles that of the yoldia-clay in the south-eastern part of Norway, which is supposed by W.C.Brøgger to have been deposited in relatively shoal water. At Bodø Bathyarca glacialis (=Arca glacialis), who lives at greater depths than the fauna of the yoldia-clay, has been found in the upper part of the clay; also at Tromsø arca-clay, that must be assumed to have been deposited in deeper water, is found on the surface of the clay on the western shore of the isle.
