In addition, consumers’ and citizens’ willingness to pay for improving fish welfare were estimated using data from a survey. Values including social and ethical aspects (non -market values) for traits connected to fish welfare were estimated and applied in a case of salmon breeding to show how to optimize a breeding program taking fish welfare into consideration.
