| Summary: | Map of the North Pacific Ocean and adjacent lands which combines the exploratory third voyage of James Cook in 1778-79 with Russian maps based on the Great Northern Expedition lead by Behring and Chirikov, who discovered southern Alaska & later the Aleutian Islands as well as the Aleksander Archipelago of present-day Alaska. The map features the time-dated routes of North Pacific explorers Behring, Tschirikow (1741), Crenizine, Spanberg, Walton, Schelting, Petroushow and Cook over the period 1728 to 1779.
