アメリカ南極観測の訓練システムと環境保全教育

2006年11月中旬から12月中旬にかけて,平成18年度の交換科学者として米国のマクマード基地及びドライバレー地域を訪れた.陸上生物の観測を実施しつつ,日本の南極観測とは異なる特徴的な訓練システムを体験することが出来た.米国基地では多様な訓練・教育のコースが充実しているが,特に現地でのフィールド技術の実習や環境保全の講習会については,学ぶ点が多いと感じた. In the middle of November in 2006, the author visited the McMurdo station and Dry Valley region, as an Exchange Scientist. During the field research of terrestrial ecosystem, the training system of U.S. Antarctic Program was also surveyed. Field survival camp and environmental education course were well organized and worth introducing into Japanese Antarctic Research.
