Shallow Subsurface Structures of East Antarctic Ice Shelves (Reports of the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition)

筆者は第8次日本南極観測隊の夏隊(1966～1967年)に参加してプリンスオラフ海岸を中心とする東部南極の卓状氷山の観察を行なった.これらの氷山から東部南極のたな氷の表層部について種々の考察を試みた.すなわち卓状氷山の側面に現われる層状構造から過去数10年にさかのぼって,気温や年間蓄積量の推定および長期変動について論じた.クレバス,スノーブリッジ,融水孔などについても過去の気候などとの関係について考察した.この地域の氷山に多くの横穴が見られたことから,数10年以前に東部南極の一部は暖かく降雪の多かったことを推論した....
