The dominant cyanobacteria in these moss communities were Stigonema minutum and Gloeocapsa magma. Nostoc sp. was also observed for some communities. Moss communities growing on the moist northeast-facing cliff showed high nitrogen-fixing activities. Nostoc sp. was the dominant epiphyte on these moss communities. These moss-cyanobacteria associations were similar to those of the continental Antarctic in several points.
