Reexamination of metapelites in the Cape Omega area, westernmost part of Prince Olav Coast, East Antarctica

Through the reexamination of metamorphic rocks in the Cape Omega area, the associations of orthopyroxene-garnet-biotite and cordierite (mg=0.95)-sillimanite-biotite (mg=0.92) are found in some kinds of metapelites. Based upon the petrographical and mineralogical investigations of the rocks, it is clarified that metamorphic conditions of the area were around 680℃ and 5kb.
