The article provides an overview of the results of research devoted to climatic and geographical factors of the Arctic. From the standpoint of environmental physiology conducted analysis of the peculiarities of human exposure as a specific (changes of photoperiodism, the characteristics of electromagnetic radiation and fluctuations of atmospheric pressure) and non-specific (cold, low and high absolute humidity, specific aerodynamic mode) factors in Arctic. Article substantiates a conclusion that the Arctic territory rightfully can be attributed to the extreme zone on a number of parameters that more demanding to the functional systems of the body, reducing the reserve capacity of the organism, complicating the work and life of residents. В статье представлен обзор результатов научных исследований, посвященных климато-географическим факторам Арктики. С позиции экологической физиологии проведен анализ особенностей воздействий на человека как специфических (изменения фотопериодизма, особенностей электромагнитных излучений и колебаний атмосферного давления), так и неспецифических (холод, низкая абсолютная и высокая относительная влажность, особый аэродинамический режим) факторов Арктики. Обосновывается вывод о том, что арктические территории по праву могут быть отнесены к экстремальной зоне по ряду параметров, которые предъявляют повышенные требования к функциональным системам организма, уменьшая его резервные возможности, осложняя труд и быт находящихся здесь людей.
