Specification of criteria of diagnostics of kimberlites of Yakutia: Petrochemistry and mineralogy

To improve specification accuracy for investigated basic-ultrabasic rocks of Yakutian diamond-bearing province, mineralogical criteria (micas and perovskites) were additionally applied. The chemical compositions of micas from typical kimberlites from 6 pipes were compared with micas from previously...

The chemical compositions of micas from typical kimberlites from 6 pipes were compared with micas from previously characterized petrogeochemically-specific rocks similar to orangites and lamproites. As shown, micas' composition can't be a criterion for basic-ultrabasic rock classification and differentiation of kimberlites, orangites and lamproites. The rock's isotope-geochemical characterization remains the only criterion. Article in Journal/Newspaper Yakutia NORA (National aggregator of open repositories of Russian universities)
