The list of 76 selected indicators is presented in summary format in Table A. These indicators were chosen because they help to: ♦ Identify important gender differences in the activities of men and women. ♦ Assist users to identify the underlying reasons that explain these differences. ♦ Present the situation in Ireland in an international context. Most indicators are presented in both a national and international context. The national context is generally in a time series format while the international context compares Ireland with other EU countries and, where available, with three EFTA countries (Iceland, Norway and Switzerland) and the three official candidate countries (Croatia, Macedonia and Turkey).
