Description
Summary:This study contains information not previously published, including virtually all useful 100- and 200-mb data obtained from 1966 through 1970. At the cutoff date of the previous study 1, one balloon, 70 K, was still aloft. The unpublished portion of the life history of balloon 70 K is thus included in this study. With the exception of the 200-mb balloons 61 TR and 62 TN, which were launched from McMurdo, Antarctica, all balloons included in the present study were launched from Christchurch, New Zealand. In the case of 100 N and 209 Q, large gaps appear in the data because both balloons disappeared into the polar night for an entire winter season.
