This report outlines a plan for balloon operations in Antarctica as requested by Mr. Gordon Newkirk of the National Center for Atmospheric Research. It includes discussions of the logistical, atmospheric, and electronics support problems associated with a proposed balloon campaign in the Antarctic. Despite the many obstacles to be overcome, it would appear that it is feasible to achieve long duration balloon flights from the South Pole.
