Summary: | The present examination of total ozone changes in the global ozone network's data for the past 29 years notes recent changes to have been dominated by negative anomalies of two types: (1) reductions over the Antarctic, since 1980; and (2) deficits centered on winter and spring at middle latitudes, since 1982. Springtime correlations between ozone and temperature at the South Pole for 1963-1979 are used in linear regression models to predict ozone from temperature for the period since 1980; recent ozone values are found to be consistently lower than those predicted by these models. |
