九州西方海域産小型歯鯨類の研究―4 : 奄美大島古仁屋港内で捕獲されたイルカについて

We looked the school of dark grey dolphin and caught one of them with spear on March 15 th 1959, on board M. S. Nagasaki Maru. The specimen is female, body length being 180.5 cm. We presumed it a new species from the following points; (1) body colour of the head, (2) number of vertebrae 7-12-17-24 (total-60) and the type of cervical vertebrae, (3) number of teeth being upper 26, 26 lower 26, 26. The compositions of blubber oil of this dolphin are different obviously from the results obtained from Tursiops sp. in the preceding paper. But merely from these results, we can not decide immidiately, whether these differences are due to the difference of species or ages of dolphin.
