Captain Kearley commanded the "John Harvey" which encountered terrible weather while sailing to St. Pierre from Newfoundland. Thanks to Jim Foot's heroism, the crew were saved. But Foot and the cook (from Labrador) died of exhaustion. Mercer, 149.
