The cellar has been in continuous use since it was built and only undergone minor renovations. These renovations included a small extension, and adding concrete to the stone walls in 1956. The barn above the cellar is used for miscellaneous garden and household storage. Barn has a second floor which at one time was used to store hay. Hatch is made of chicken wire which serves as the only ventilation. Originally it had a wooden chimney like structure that went through the two stories of the barn for ventilation.
