Crystal Braye and Ryan Stacey interviewing Basil Gillingham, George's Point, Gander Bay. Braye, Crystal Gillingham, Basil Basil Gillingham was born in George's Point, Gander Bay in 1940. He learned how build Gander Bay Boats (also known as Gander River Boats) at a young age by watching his father Leslie Gilllingham, and began to build his own when he was sixteen years old. Basil has built more than one hundred boats and has spent fifty years guiding on the Gander River.
