At the end of the interview he shows the garden outside of his home. 00:06-04:36 Pomeroy was born in Brigus on 28th September 1927, he has three sisters, he went to a two rooms school, after that they also had four rooms school in their community, they had a generator to heat the school, he tells that he was not good at English, he was good at mathematics, he likes mathematics; 04:41- 13:29 Pomeroy tells that people used to do fishing then, he went fishing for the first time when he was eight years old, he left fishing when he was sixteen because his father died, his father died when he was fifteen, he was in charge of six people when he was sixteen, after that he went to Labrador, he remembers that his father used to buy molasses candy for him, they lived Bay Roberts also, he worked in the port, he shares his working experience in the port, he was a captain of the ship, he shares he has many experiences in sailing ship, he tells one incident when the ship was hit by a big iceberg and he anyhow managed to save the ship, at that time they listened to radio, they had to pay 50 cents for radio; 13:35-21:44 his father was a merchant, they had their own vegetable gardens, he shows a picture of Indian Harbor in Labrador, he tells that they had cooks in their ships to prepare their meals, he also shows a book that has old stories of Newfoundland, in that book there is also a story of his father, the story was about the merchants of his father, Pomeroy tells that this book has stories of every areas of Newfoundland, this book is from 1920s, he shows a picture of a ship, this ship had five cylinders, he sailed this ship once, he talks about powerful ships he sailed when he was a captain, those ships had power to avoid winds and tides of the ocean, he shows his award that he received in appreciation for ...
