She also talked about her life in Ontario. She shared how she explored Green's Harbour, and how different it is than her early life in England. 00:07- 01:50 was born and raised in England, lived there till she was six years old, then moved to Canada, lived in Ontario for four years and went back to England in 1930, lived not too far from Leeds, joined the army in 1941 and worked there for four and half years, she just had one sister, met her husband in London during the war, got married in England and then came here in Green’s Harbour in 1946, her husband was from Green’s Harbour, she has three children and four grandchildren, she has two sons and one daughter; 01:55- 02:50 she was twenty-five years old when she moved here in Green’s Harbour, they were here for five years, two of her children were born here, Margaret her oldest son went to the school here for Kindergarten, he was only four then, then she moved to Ontario, her children went to school there; 03:07- 04:50 when she joined the army she was trained to primitive learning, she was trained on bombs and jet planes; 05:00- 08:24 she used to play with board games, dolls and statues during her childhood, Christmas was her special event, 24th May and Halloween were also special to her, in England they did not celebrate Halloween, where she grew up gas was used to run everything like heating, stove, there was no electricity then, went to church on Sundays in the morning and in the afternoon, she and her sister loved to go to church when the church’s door was open early in the morning; 08:54- 14:30 she loved to hear ghost stories, ghost stories were all about old houses, but she never felt afraid of ghosts, there were bus and trains as the regular transportation, sometimes people used private cars then, she loved the train rides, in 1946 she found Newfoundland as behind times, almost 100 years behind than England, ...
