This area of Branch is settled mostly by recent generations and there is more variety in family names. From the mid-1960s until the late-1980s, Out the Road was best known as the site of the former Shamrock Lounge. The Shamrock was a lively spot the only local dance bar and a popular place for Sunday afternoon entertainment. The Hennesseys have lived Out the Road since John Hennessey moved from the west shore of Placentia Bay in 1880.
