This second volume continues from the first and contains some additional reminiscences of Dad Morrys period as a young man in the early 1900s knocking around in British Columbia when the fishery and the economy in Newfoundland had become so bad that many young men were fleeing to the United States of America and Canada to find a living. It then picks up a new thread, telling us of his experiences upon his return to Newfoundland before the outbreak of WWI. This leads into the start of his memories of joining the Newfoundland Regiment, training in Edinburgh, Stobs Camp and Camp Aldershot, before setting sail for the Peninsula. Importantly, it also covers in detail the touching and romantic story of his first meeting with his future bride, Fredris Marion Powderall Minty, their brief courtship, marriage and parting. The volume concludes with a description of his first experiences in Egypt en route to Gallipoli. This narrative resumes in the third diary (Volume 3 in this series) which was written over an extended period between Nov 24 1940 and Dec 4 1949.
