Introduction by Elayne Harris, followed by several presentations by participants from the floor; with the expression of considerable anger and frustration with the perceived lack of progress by the conference. Topics include: lack of unity among groups represented and the need for greater communication and coordination; the failure of government works programs to solve the problem of unemployment; the need for rural Newfoundlanders to take control of their own destiny and to end dependence on politicians and bureacrats; example of the community of Flat Bay where improvements have been made through efforts of the people themselves; domination of the conference by professionals and experts, who do not really understand rural realities.
