badness n Telling tales of _spirits_ etc deliberately to frighten. A "_spirit_" etc. You see, (THE) way it is now, I might be a don't-care feller,you know, don't care what I say, you know. I('d) go in somebody's house and I'd say, "Look here! I met a feller last night, I met a feller last night, an' he's dead this years, an' I met un last night!" Well now, he'll tell that story so true, look, for badness, that the other feller would believe it! An' he'd be more or less 'fraid to go across that place where he.where he said he seen un! That's true,(YES). I know that to be true,because now they.they used to say that. the people goin' from church night-time used to say that.(yes), this is in Glovetown, that THEY used to hear (a) _spirits_ every night on a _bridge_, on a _bridge_ they used to have to cross,a brook,you know,a little river,like,a wooden _bridge_. They used to hear a _spirit_. When there('d) be four or five goin', they wouldn't hear it, but if one or two was goin' they used to hear it. And people used to faint away!
