Description
Summary:toe n (Informants never seem to have considered the spelling but this is their suggestion and pronunciation). 'Toe' is the name given to cotton wool, gauze or any form of absorbent cotton used for medical reasons such as bathing a running, or infected, ear. I recall first hearing this in 1965 and being greatly amused by it. Not until 1971 did I hear it again and this second time I heard it used by a resident of the same area. Yes DICT CEN.
