Summary: | torch n November 4th. This was a custom in Newman's Cove, when my father was a young boy (1934- ). Prior to this night there was a raid on old rubber boots in the home. The boot would be stuffed with old clothing, shavings, etc. Tar and kerosene were poured in also. A long stick would then be stuck in the rubber boot.
