Apparently the word "vest" has been used by tailors for a long time and the other term has been forgotten. Mrs. Winnie Martin, has heard weskit both by her late father who came from Northern Bay and by her cousins orig- inally from the same area. But, she adds, that she has heard "weskit" used in St. John's all her life by her maternal relat- ives who were born and reared in St. John's.
