He told me that his friend went into his house and looked into this "Black Hearts' Book" and by so doing changed the change (quarters & dimes) into several dollars, enough for several beers each. I don't remember the name of his friend, but I do recall his mentioning that this book had changed hands several times in the Curling and Benoits Cove and in other communities on the South Shore of the Bay of Islands. He said no one would keep it very long because it was cursed and brought bad luck. One man in Benoits Cove, Percy Companion, who had one time possessed it contacted T.B., and his wife died.
