When I was small,you know,everybody kind of lived with that fear that there were such things as _ghosts_ [PT] an' _tokens_ [PT] lurking around.lurking around everywhere. And I don't think that there are any boys and girls in Greenspond now.I don't think that the parents ever say to them that there are _ghosts_ [PT] there or there are [spirits] [PT] there. An' all the old _lights_ [PT] all the _old_ _haunted places_ [PT] that I heard about when I was small in Greenspond.I've talked to some o' the other boys and girls casually about it an' they don't even know any.any- thing about it.So Apparently that these things were just.lots o' them were just ideas and not realities. JW. So going back about twenty years ago there'd be a.quite a .a lot of.of ghosts an.around. M. Right. Right. JW. Now roughly when in the intervening time do you think they began to began to decline? M. Well,I think that,like I said before,that since television has come to the fore,that people have become much more enlightened and that to youngsters,if.if oldsters relate a story of _ghosts_ [PT] well I think to them it's just anoth- er story,an' it doesn't have any indication. Because when I was small, now not small but big,that there were supposed to be _ghosts_ [PT] on the Ferry.Ferry Wharf,which is a.a _big wharf_ that connects Over. [REVERSE] Greenspond to Ship Island.And on certain [nights,]if you go across that _wharf_,that you were supposed to hear /a man fall over.fall overboard/, though he had fallen there years an' years before. But everyone just took it for granted that [was] what happened. And then on Ship Island there were.was /a house that was haunted / by _ghosts_ [PT].
