Description
Summary:rodney n I well remember Ira, because he could not only scull a rodney forwards but also backwards, a feat I never accomplished. Incidentally, in older English, the word 'rodney' means 'wanderer' or 'vagabond,' and I wonder if it was applied to the small keeled boat, sculled more often than rowed, because of the way the bow wandered in response to the propulsion of the sculling oar. There must be a reader who can enlighten me. DNE Sup PRINTED ITEM [Bill, we'll try this one for size.] --not very plausible. GMS WK Sep 87 Used I and Sup Used I and Sup Used Sup
