It is easy to visualize that old stone jar sitting on top of the high mantle in the old kitchen in the Big House. To make what was called "_barm_," one took a cup full of the grounds, added water and flour, stirred it well, and wrapped it up warm and set it to rise. PRINTED ITEM DNE-cit G. M.
