Description
Summary:barm In those days it was the old style grounds bread. The grounds were made from hops and yeast with sugar and water added, were then placed in a jar and allowed to ferment. It is easy to visualize that old stone jar sitting on top of the high mantle in the old kitchen in the Big House. To make what was called "_barm_," one took a cup full of the grounds, added water and flour, stirred it well, and wrapped it up warm and set it to rise. PRINTED ITEM DNE-cit G. M.
