Description
Summary:underrun v The second variation [in bank fishing], called 'under run', was used during the summer trips. Under this method the schooner was anchored and the dories were sent out from it like spokes of a wheel. On arriving at a new site, the men laid their trawls, and hauled them once or twice a day as long as the fish were running. If the fish were scarce, they hauled up their gear and the schooner moved to a new location. p. 128 has long transcription about this term. There are verbs and nouns. But JW's conundrum of _on the run_ and _under run_ is set down several times, and it is unclear if the speaker intends _two_ different forms. The above cite is less valuable because it is a name, and not an actual usage. I.e., the usage is probably adverb = verb: fishermen under run. K PRINTED ITEM DNE Sup G. M.
