I'm thinking of the romantic poems about the Outport Planter, etc. He's writing in the 1980s, and at some decade, the _planter_ of the census, law cases, local occupations and classes, was phased out. After this time, its use is looking back to the period of its functional use. Mrs. Trickett went to the Labrador on schooners, and she never used _planter_. Perhaps dentist Butt, 82, can give me hints. What we need is info on 1) the decline of this organization of the fisheries and 2) the replacment term for the businessman who ran the fisheries.
