Prate A common saying in Renews to someone who talks too much used to be "Ya have too much prate." Or is someone was talking and talking in a group, no giving anyone else a chance to speak, someone else in the group might say to another, "Well, how much prate has that one got. Ya can't get a word in edgeways with her." Or besides meaning just talk (a noun), the word "prate" might be used to mean continuously talking (verb). Eg. "Well, that young one never got anything out of that mass this mornin', she prated the whole time the priest was preachin'." (a common complaint of olld people about the children who hold conversations in church). OR, "Did you ever see the like of that one, all she does in prate about how much money that son of hers makes." These last couple of years I haven't heard it so much.
