There were no teams, and the aim was simply for the player in the center of the room to get in a corner as soon as it was vacated since the players in each corner changed corners either along the walls or diagonally. . . . The person in the center then usually got a corner and the slowest person getting back to his corner was then left out. . . . Besides eye signals used there was also a little couplet which was repeated by the people in the corners as they were running: Pussy in the corner, Can't catch me. G. M.
