[Head's note: p. 80 the French fished offshore in small 3-man boats. Larger decked boats called shalloways, capable of staying at sea 5 or 6 days, apparently collected the fish from these primary fishing stations on shore and returned it to the main station at Placentia.] PRINTED ITEM DNE-cit GMS May 79 Used I and Sup Used I and Sup Used I sherway, shallowayes, BARASWAY, shallop, ~ Brook/ Cove/Head/Island/Point/Pond.
