Summary:salt v Up to about 1945 most of the cod was light-salted, and sun-dried. After that date some of it was heavily salted, or, as some of the fishermen would say,/'salted Labrador'. This means that the fish was split, cleaned and heavily salted in bulks for 20 days or a month. It was taken directly from the bulks and shipped.
