Description
Summary:sea lice _Remedy_ : _Cure for "Seal Finger"_ Years ago when men went to the ice on a sealing voyage they often cut themself and when the oil from the seal got into the cut it would often cause sever infection, this infection was refered to as a "Seal finger" and could be cured by taking sea lice and putting them into the cut and (over) [Reverese] Tying them in with a piece of cloth and this would bring about healing of the cut. This was an old Indian cure which came down through the years. It was thought that the lice devoured the germs in the wound. Another way would be to replace the lice by maggots and follow the same procedure. JH JUN 1973 JH JUN 1973 Not used Not used Withdrawn Reverse of card at S_22598
