LeDrew when listening to the radio heard a news report about a student who was seen wearing a "beatle wig" on Water Street. She laughed at the story and said - "He must have looked like a _bully-boo_." When asked what she meant she explained that a bully boo was an ugly figure with a bushy appearance used to frighten children. These scary figures were used to keep children out of the dark. She reports that she has heard this expression in Lawrenceton, Twillingate, Englee, and St. Lawrence. I cannot recall having heard this expression before this occasion. See cited quotation.
