shore 1 n The Minister of Trade & Commerce has added his voice to those who have been talking about the good market to be found in Italy for what is now described as "light-salted, hard cured" cod but which, not so long ago, was generally referred to as "shore" fish. This was to distinguish it from the heavy salting and soft cure of most of the fish taken on the Labrador coast.
