Summary:jigging vbl n A jigger is a long lead resembling a small fish with two large hooks at the end. This head [sic], fastened to a long line, is let down into the water, and moved to and fro, catching the fish that may happen to be in its way or to follow it, allowed by the apparent Bait in different parts of their body. This making is used when the cod-fish first appeared, and there is a scarcity of bait; [sic] The fish caught by jigging is immediately opened, and a herring is generally found in the [body] which serves as bait.
