Say, for the sake of simplicity, that the boat gets a hundred quintals for the season: that is, four shares of twenty-five quintals each. The skipper takes one of them. He also takes as his further share one-half of the twenty-five quintal share of each of the three sharemen. This giving him an additional twelve and a half quintals from each sharemen or thirty-seven and a half quintals from the three, he now has a grand total of sixty-two and a half quintals out of the hundred, and each shareman has twelve and a half quintals "to his own hand."
