Summary:hand serry n The an serry was used primarily if not solely for hauling heavy logs to the main road, where the large sled was left. The teamster would unhitch the horse from the main sled, harness him to the anserry and proceed up a narrow, steep woodpath to the heavy timber, place a number of logs on it (the anserry) and return to the main sled. The path was usually too steep or narrow to risk using the horse and main sled. DNE-cit JH 12/77 [Whatever the impluse at the time he talked to me, Dr. Rowe stressed the first syllable.
