Description
Summary:gansey Grandmother Fillier always knitted this type of sweater for my Grandfather each year. It was knitted from sheep's wool, what she would call home spun because she had shared the sheep, carded the wool and spun it with the Spinning W[h]eel, The sweater had a high neck, what Grandmother called the roll neck. The color depended on the color of the Sheep's wool which was mainly Black, White or Maybe Grey. The Sweater was worn inside a caussock*, a coat made from Sailing canvas, when it was very cold, but apart from that it was the feature of a man when he was well dressed. * pron. Cozzock - an home made coat, from sailing canves. JH JUL 1970 Used I and Sup Used I and Sup 1 Not used
