Summary: | gibralter The prizes [at the Sunday-School picnic] to the older children would be an apple, for the smaller children a large peppermint candy, sometimes varied with small bags of what was called common candy. So that the losers would have a chance to get something, and any remaining candy was thrown in the air. A mad rush ensued, resulting in many bruised knees.
