Barbour's commentary: _Chussah_ 'a [gnat, or] garnepo fly' . . . / _Garnepo_ appears to be a misprint for 'ganatte', a spelling of gnat found as late as 1562 [OED, s.v. 'gnat']. In MSS of the period, 'e' was often mistaken for 'o', and vice versa, while in Rosier's MS 's', 't', 'm' and possibly 'k' have all been printed at least once as 'p'--though it is possible that 'p' for 'm' was due to mishearing.
